{"id":999881445,"date":"2011-08-29T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-08-29T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dice.npgdev.com\/?p=822041055"},"modified":"2011-08-29T15:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-08-29T15:00:00","slug":"five-twitter-blunders-to-avoid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dice.npgdev.com\/hiring\/recruitment\/five-twitter-blunders-to-avoid","title":{"rendered":"Five Twitter Blunders to Avoid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you\u2019re not getting good results from your Tweets, maybe you\u2019re committing some or all of the <em>Five Mistakes Recruiters Make on Twitter <\/em>outlined by blogger Jennifer McClure:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Posting only job links<\/li>\n<li>Not making your tweets public<\/li>\n<li>Posting a bio without a photo or website lin<em>k<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>  <\/em>Only interacting with other recruiters<\/li>\n<li>Tweeting solely about work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Looking at it from the other direction, McClure &#8212; president of the consulting firm  Unbridled Talent &#8212; offers up this list of what you should do, most of which involves thinking about how you can communicate <em>with <\/em>folks on Twitter, rather than <em>to <\/em>folks using Twitter:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ol>\n<li>Engage and add value with your tweets.<\/li>\n<li>Take advantage of the ability to build your network \u2013 by allowing people to connect with and follow you.<\/li>\n<li>Provide good information in your Bio to encourage Followers and include an appropriate link to learn more about you\/your company.<\/li>\n<li>Follow and engage with people in the professions and industries that you recruit for \u2013 in addition to friends and professional peers.<\/li>\n<li>Be yourself. People want to follow real people \u2013 not auto-tweeters or corporate robots.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I can&#8217;t help but add a caveat to those last two. Add your friends that aren&#8217;t crazy and always know where the line is between being a corporate suit and being so open you lose the respect of your colleagues.
