Still, a variety of U.S. cities showed growth month-over-month,  with some locations outside of the traditional tech hubs  seeing increases during Q3.  <\/p>   \n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>   \n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">   \n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:31% auto\">\n <figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dice.com\/binaries\/content\/gallery\/dice\/insights\/2020\/11\/Landing-Page-Image_vIII-3-1024x684.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-207665 size-full\">\n <\/figure>\n <div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n   \n  <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-get-all-of-the-data-and-full-report\"><strong>Get all of the data and full report. <\/strong><\/h3>   \n  <p><a href=\"https:\/\/techhub.dice.com\/Dice-Q3-Tech-Job-Report.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download the Dice Q3 Tech Job Report now. <\/a><\/p> \n <\/div>\n<\/div>   \n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">   \n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>   \n<p>Primary tech hubs including\u202fNew York\u202fand\u202fSan Francisco\u202fled  the U.S. in tech job postings  in the third quarter, with more than 29,000 and 16,000 postings, respectively.\u202fIn both cities, organizations (including\u202fTwitter, Microsoft, Facebook, Apple and Oracle) have seen their sales and engagement rise, particularly for a variety of <a href=\"cloud-computing-benefits-developers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cloud-based products<\/a>; that demand, in turn, has helped buoy hiring.    <\/p>   \n<p>Specifically, in New York, Amazon continues to be a leader in job postings, followed by JPMorgan Chase and IBM, and in San Francisco,\u202fAmazon, Salesforce, Splunk and Twitter all created a significant number of job postings.\u202f<a href=\"lessons-amazon-upskilling-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amazon<\/a> plans on adding 2,000 jobs in New York City; although its plans to set up a massive \u201cHQ2\u201d headquarters in the Long Island City neighborhood were\u202fdropped,\u202fit will bring data scientists and other technologists into expanded offices in Midtown.\u202f  <\/p>   \n<p>Los Angeles and San Diego\u202fhave\u202flong\u202fbeen viewed as less expensive alternatives\u202fto San Francisco\u202fin California. While San Diego maintained its spot in the eighth rank, Los Angeles improved by one place  during the quarter.\u202fIn\u202fLos Angeles,\u202fthe top hiring companies include IBM, Boeing, Deloitte, Northrop Grumman and Anthem Blue Cross, San Diego\u2019s includes Qualcomm, Intuit,\u202fTeredata\u202fand General Atomics.\u202f  <\/p>   \n<p>Month-over-month,\u202fSan Jose and Los Angeles\u202fboth showed significant growth between August and September (18  percent  and 16  percent, respectively).\u202fSan Jose\u2019s top hiring companies include PayPal, Cisco, eBay and Splunk, while in Los Angeles, the top hiring companies include\u202fIBM, Boeing, Deloitte and Northrop Grumman.\u202fOver the past few years, Los Angeles has also developed a robust startup scene, with VC firms more than happy to open their wallets to promising new companies.\u202f\u202f  <\/p>   \n<p>Additionally, Sunnyvale, which showed 6  percent  growth  month-over-month, is led in its hiring by tech giants including Amazon, Google\u202fand Microsoft.\u202fThe strength of San Jose and Sunnyvale shows that Silicon Valley is benefitting from many of the same trends gripping San Francisco just to the north. As\u202fthe country rushes to embrace cloud and mobile services in order to keep businesses running, developers in this technology hub  will continue to  benefit.\u202f\u202f  <\/p>   \n<p>Texas\u2019 growth\u202fcontinues to position the state as a rival to California,\u202fand the\u202fperformance\u202fof\u202fselect\u202fcities in Q3\u202fonly serves\u202fto\u202ffurther the argument.\u202fAustin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio\u202fall ranked within the top 20 cities in\u202fthe quarter\u202f\u2013 with\u202fSan Antonio\u202fand Austin also making 21  percent  and 5  percent  gains between August and September, respectively.\u202fHiring in\u202fAustin (ranked fifth, although dropped two spots)\u202fwas led\u202fby companies including\u202fIBM, Amazon, Deloitte and Home Depot.\u202fMoreover,  recent announcements from Amazon and Tesla have  the state\u2019s future looking  particularly bright.  <\/p>   \n<p>Outside of California and Texas,\u202fthe city of\u202fCharlotte\u202fsaw a spike month-over-month, showing\u202f11  percent  growth from August to September.
