In this role, you\u2019ll primarily work in C++,  <a href=\"what-recruiters-need-know-java\">Java<\/a>, Scala and Ruby and will bring a depth of knowledge on basic algorithms and data structures. As a Back-End Software Engineer, on any given day you might be architecting new features for our customers, refactoring existing code to be more scalable, and seeing changes through to completion in a live environment.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-back-end-software-engineer-roles-and-responsibilities\"><strong>Back-End Software Engineer Roles and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n <li>Build robust and scalable software in C++, Ruby, Scala and\/or Java.<\/li>\n <li>Design and create services and system architecture for your projects, and contribute and provide feedback to other team members.<\/li>\n <li>Help improve our code quality through writing unit tests, automation and performing code reviews.<\/li>\n <li>Collaborate with multidisciplinary team of Back-End Software Engineers,  <a href=\"project-manager-job-description-template\">Project Managers<\/a>  and System Administrators.<\/li>\n <li>Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas to our technology, algorithms and products.<\/li>\n <li>Work with the product and design teams to understand end-user requirements, formulate use cases, and then translate that into a pragmatic and effective technical solution.<\/li>\n <li>Dive into difficult problems and successfully deliver results on schedule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-back-end-software-engineer-skills-requirements\"><strong>Back-End Software Engineer Skills\/Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n <li>2-7 years of recent hands-on coding and software design.<\/li>\n <li>Bachelor degree or more in Computer Science or a related field.<\/li>\n <li>A track record of projects completed on time \u2013 you are a flawless executor, not a procrastinator.<\/li>\n <li>You find satisfaction in a job well done and want to solve head-scratching challenges.<\/li>\n <li>Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle, best practices and Agile Software Development.<\/li>\n <li>Solid OOP and software design knowledge \u2013 you should know how to create software that\u2019s extensible, reusable and meets desired architectural objectives.<\/li>\n <li>A strong familiarity of Web Server technologies including NGINX, Apache and J2EE.<\/li>\n <li>Experience with Java or Ruby, and the willingness to learn new technologies (experience with other object-oriented languages is okay too, but our code is Java, Ruby and Scala, so you should be able to get up-to-speed on at least one of them quickly.<\/li>\n <li>Establish Back-End Software Engineer best practices.<\/li>\n <li>Work autonomously, are excited by new technologies, and will never back down from the challenges of scale.<\/li>\n <li>Experience with Linux\/Unix and scripting languages like  <a href=\"recruiting-in-the-data-science-space-get-to-know-python\">Python<\/a>, Perl, shell scripting, etc.<\/li>\n <li>Knowledge in database systems and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB.<\/li>\n <li>Experience deploying  <a href=\"machine-learning-engineer-job-description-template\">machine learning<\/a>  models is a plus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\" \/>\n<p>  <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile wp-block-media-text\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Dice industry tech job reports main cover -
